Yellowstone River 5-6-2019

The Yellowstone near Big Timber has cleared significantly this weekend as the cooler weather and lack of low level snow has brought the muddy Shields River under control.  Look for fish eating March Brown mayflies that are hatching pretty well this week.  Look for a hatch of Blue Winged Olives as well.  If no fish are rising, fish a nymph rig with Golden Stone, Pheasant Tail and San Juan Worm nymphs.  Streamer fishing the banks has also been effective, try a black and olive articulated Apollo for big Browns.
