Boulder River 5-19-2018

Lower Boulder:  The lower Boulder, below the Natural Bridge, is running high with early runoff.  Expect high and off color flows with some clearing in the late afternoons and after a couple of cool days.  High temperatures bring the flows way up, so try to fish after cooler days and avoid fishing during or directly after a heat wave.  The snow pack is still strong in the Beartooths, so expect this pattern for at least another month.  Nymph fishing with large Stone fly nymphs and Aquatic annelid patterns seem to be best, with a little action on streamers.

Upper Boulder: The river above the Natural Bridge has had better clarity yet is still running high.  Take care while wading and fish Stone fly nymphs, like a Rubberlegs or a Golden Stone imitation along with a San Juan Worm for a little action.  Look for deep slow pools and seams for best action.
