Fishing Report 9-3-16

Yellowstone Boulder and Stillwater Rivers

The temporary closure of the Yellowstone, Boulder and Stillwater Rivers has been lifted.  The Yellowstone is open to fishing below the HWY 89 Bridge (9 miles east of Livingston).  In addition the tributaries to the Yellowstone (other than the Shields River) east of the HWY 89 Bridge have also been reopened to angling.  Cooler weather and low impact by the parasite on the lower Yellowstone has prompted the MT FWP to allow water recreation in the area to resume.

Fishing on both the Boulder and Yellowstone have been good!  Hopper- dropper combinations have been productive, try a Chubby and a Biot Sparkle Stone nymph on the Yellowstone.  The season for streamers is here on the Yellowstone as well, stop in and check out our selection!  With low water conditions on the Boulder, small hoppers and terrestrials have been productive.  Try small beadhead mayfly nymphs like a size 18 Pheasant Tail or a Zebra Midge as a dropper.
