Yellowstone, Stillwater and Boulder River Fishing Report 8/16

The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks has closed the Yellowstone River and all of its tributaries to any recreational use from Gardiner to Laurel, Montana.  This closure includes fishing, wading, floating, etc.…  The closure comes in the wake of very low flows this season with high river temperatures.  In addition, Paradise Valley has experienced an unprecedented Mountain Whitefish die off that has been attributed to an aquatic parasite that causes Proliferative Kidney Disease in salmonids.  Reports from Paradise Valley have mentioned Rainbow and Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout deaths as well.  FWP placed these waters on restriction beginning August 19, 2016 with no mention of its duration.  We will keep this post updated with any new information.
