Boulder River 3-22-2017

The Boulder is also free of ice and is fishable.  Be advised that warm weather can also cause some clarity issues on the Boulder, yet this doesn’t seem to happen as often as the Yellowstone.  Give us a call and we can give updates.  We’ve been catching fish on midges and midge droppers, as fish have been feeding on slow edges.  Nymph fishing with stonefly patterns like the Doublebead golden stone and Girdlebugs paired with small mayfly patterns (Beadhead pheasant tail size 14 -16) or midge larvae (size 16-18) has been effective.  Fish have also been caught on red and flesh colored San Juan worms when there is a little color in the water.
